Sermon 3

Sunday December 14. 2008

This morning, before I went to bed, I asked Jesus for a special scripture, as in the old days of mine. I haven't been reading the Bible, this way, for a long time. (I read in it almost every day, using BibleCodes etc.).

His choice for me was John 1:1-5 - no more. - It was great for me.

At church later this Sunday My priest (John Nielsen) start to talk about the Gospel of Christmas. Quoting these very same verses, John 1:1-4 (and later verse 5). What amazed me? Was: His sermon:

There are 4 Evangelist in the New Testament.

Marcus goes right on, after verse 1: Describing: The Adult life of John and Jesus.

Luke introduce John and Jesus in chapter one, talking about 1 year before Birth.

Matthew brings the whole genealogy of Christ. etc.

But John?

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

John goes back to the first verse in the Bible, and beyond that time.

The same John goes further in The Revelation, and tell us about the eternity to come. Johns view goes far beyond time. From eternity to eternity.
He goes High (The word was God)
He goes wide (all things was created by Jesus)
He goes deep (1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. )

No one was like John.

John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing, ye might have life through his name.

In John Chapter 1 we find the name of Jesus:

1:1 The Word
1:9 The Light
1:14 The only Begotten of the Father
1:23 The Lord
1:29 The Lamb of God
1:34 The Son of God
1:38 Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted: Master,)
1:41 The Messiah, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
1:49 The King of Israel.
1:51 The Son of man.

The living Christ: I am!

John 1:15 he was before me (John the Baptist says)
John 8:58 Before Abraham was, I am.
John 17:5 and John 17:24 Jesus was before the creation of the world.
17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory, which I had with thee before the world was.
17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
John 1:1 In the beginning

Life eternal is revealed for us in:
1 John 1-2 the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;

Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: (Our blood from the Holly Cross) and his name is called The Word of God.
